โœจ Just wrapped up a dreamy bedroom transformation โœจ Just wrapped up a dreamy bedroom transformation for our clientโ€™s two little girls in Newtown, Sydney! ๐ŸŒธ We used a delightful floral print wallpaper with a soft peach accent chair rail that brings both liveliness and calmness in pastel shades, paired with pops of color in the accessories.

The custom-built wardrobes feature a handy pull-down rail, and we styled the room with our favorite bloomsโ€”flannel flowers and peonies! ๐ŸŒผ Open shelves allow for easy decor changes as the girls grow up.

Just finished! A serene and inviting Japanese-insp Just finished! A serene and inviting Japanese-inspired bathroom was a wonderful project that we at INSIDESIGN collaborated on for a client in Longueville, Sydney.

Using custom Grey Ironbark woodwork and joinery and Bottega Caliza tiles from @earpbros, we created a haven that feels architecturally linear and functional yet calming.

We absolutely love the bronze tapware and hooks from @faucetstrommen via @justbathroomware to add the finishing touches.

Amazing tiling (around each of the ceiling beams!) by @rjmcalistertiling ๐Ÿคฉ

Our next stage will be styling the space and adding those wabi-sabi touches. No better place to find our favorite Japanese ceramics than @thedeastore and candles and handwash from @mecquestore Towels from @aurahomeconceptstore will also be featuredโ€”look out for these in the space!

โœจ Excited to share our latest kitchen project in N โœจ Excited to share our latest kitchen project in Newtown, Sydney! โœจ

This space is breath of fresh air in its distinctive blue, striking the perfect balance between functionality and relaxation. Our goal was to transform the outdated, darker kitchen into a calming, light-filled haven. Weโ€™re thrilled with how it turned out!

Custom joinery with a streamlined design helps keep everything organized and concealed, while simple styling brings harmony to the space. The tiles give a mid century vibe with their quiet yet graphic nature.

How to avoid 6 important bathroom design problems? How to avoid 6 important bathroom design problems? ๐Ÿ’ฆ

We've just started a bathroom renovation project for my client and this is a timely checklist of the main issues to avoid in the bathroom renovation and design.

1. Long tile leadtime causing rework and disappointments - plan and order early.
2. Tile layout not agreed in advance resulting in disappointments - we always make the tiling plan in writing and confirm it on site with the tiler to make grout lines align.
3. Tapware functionality issues due to incorrect / inadequately considered placement - always double check the functionality before ordering.
4. Cost overruns due to inadequate planning in advance - double work in bathrooms can be horribly expensive.
5. Space planning neglected causing useability issues - make sure doors and drawers have room to open.
6. Lighting not planned in advance - bathroom lighting needs to be multi-level.

Do you have your own horror story of bathroom renovation?

    ๐Ÿ’› ๐—–๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜ ๐—น๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐Ÿ’› One of the biggest challenges p ๐Ÿ’› ๐—–๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜ ๐—น๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐Ÿ’›

One of the biggest challenges people face is imagining how a design will look before it's built. Insidesign use powerful 3D design software that helps bring ideas to life early in the process โ€” so you can see your space, colours, and finishes come together ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฆ๐˜ง๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ a single tile is laid.

As one of our clients said:

From layout tweaks to bold colour choices, our clients feel confident knowing theyโ€™ve seen the vision โ€” and love it โ€” before we move forward.

Itโ€™s been a while since I properly introduced myse Itโ€™s been a while since I properly introduced myself โ€” so hereโ€™s a little peek at the person behind INSIDESIGN.

Iโ€™m Sari, the founder and creative director, and here are 10 things you might not know about me...

I grew up in Finland (yes, with actual bear encounter lessons at school and yes, my dad still hunts them... in his 80s.)

Even though Iโ€™m a Finn and Nordic design is all about wood, monochrome and minimalism, I actually love using colour in my interiors. (And wood too.)

I wanted to be an architect but took the โ€œeasyโ€ route to Uni with Maths, Computer Science & Astronomy. It took me decades to circle back to interior design.

My interiors passion is built on my belief that everyone deserves a space that feels calm, personal and restorative. I truly believe our surroundings shape our mood, energy and wellbeing. I canโ€™t save lives โ€” but I can help someone who does, to recharge in a home that supports them.

Before interiors, I worked in Telco for 20 years and travelled up to 200 days a year. I moved to Australia for two yearsโ€ฆ 20 years ago โ€” and still here!

We have two beautiful teenage daughters and two rabbits. Thatโ€™s both the house and garden destroyed.

I speak (or studied) 8 languages: Finnish, Swedish, English, French, German, Mandarin, Portuguese and Spanish. Most are rusty these days.

My number one hobby is dancing โ€” I picked it back up a couple of years ago and havenโ€™t looked back. I do Latin and ballroom, with favourites like salsa, bachata, swing, and tango. I even take part in dance school performances and competitions โ€” a fun (and slightly terrifying!) way to push myself out of my comfort zone and keep the creative energy flowing.
โœจTerrazzo is having a moment โ€” and weโ€™re 100% here โœจTerrazzo is having a moment โ€” and weโ€™re 100% here for it.

Why we love
Incredibly durable and water-resistant
โœ”๏ธ Conceals water spots and grime (so forgiving!)
โœ”๏ธ Available in endless colour combinations and chip styles
โœ”๏ธ Brings visual texture without overwhelming a small space

Sometimes, ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—น ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜‡๐˜‡๐—ผ ๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ปโ€™๐˜ ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—น โ€” tile thickness, cost, or structural limitations can get in the way. Thatโ€™s where ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜‡๐˜‡๐—ผ-๐—น๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—ธ ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป tiles come in. They offer the same beautiful, speckled aesthetic โ€” with greater flexibility, thinner profiles, and shorter lead

From vanities to splashbacks, terrazzo (or terrazzo-look!) adds a playful sophistication to modern homes โ€” and works beautifully with warm timbers and brushed finishes.

Can you tell in the above pictures whatโ€™s real terrazzo vs. terrazzo-look?

Your entryway sets the tone for your entire home โ€” Your entryway sets the tone for your entire home โ€” it's your home's first impression, and it should speak your style fluently.

Here are 3 ways to elevate your entryway like a designer:
